What is CoffeeConnex?+

CoffeeConnex is a student-focused mentorship platform that connects university and college students with verified professionals for structured, 1-on-1 coffee chats. It is designed to make networking accessible, safe, and productive.

Who can join?+

Any student with a verified university or college email (.edu or .ca) can join CoffeeConnex for free. Professionals sign up using LinkedIn to verify their identity and experience.

What is included in the free plan?+

The free plan lets you send up to four mentorship requests per month, schedule video chats with mentors, and access guided question prompts to prepare for your sessions.

What do I get with the Student Premium Plan?+

Student Premium unlocks unlimited chat requests, priority matching with mentors who are most likely to respond, AI career coaching suggestions before and after each chat, early access to events and workshops, and faster mentor response times through visibility boosts.

How much does the Premium Plan cost?+

Student Premium is five dollars per month or fifty dollars per year, saving twenty percent. All funds help reward mentors and keep the platform running sustainably.

Do I need to pay to find mentors?+

No. Mentorship connections are always free to request. Premium simply speeds up your experience and increases match quality.

How are mentors verified?+

All professionals sign in through LinkedIn, and many optionally verify with their company email. We ensure profiles are real before they appear on the platform.

How are chats scheduled?+

Once your request is accepted, CoffeeConnex automatically generates a Zoom or Teams link, sends invites, and reminds both participants twenty four hours and one hour before the chat.

Can I get mentorship outside my university?+

Yes. CoffeeConnex is cross-university and cross-industry, so you can connect with professionals from any school or company.

What if a mentor does not respond or cancels?+

If your request goes unanswered, it expires after seven days and you can send a new one. If a mentor cancels, you receive priority matching to another professional.

How does Sage determine my 'likelihood of conversion'?+

Sage analyzes shared backgrounds (like your U of T program), mutual industry interests, and the professional's historical responsiveness to ensure you are reaching out to the people most likely to engage.

Is the Career Planner's roadmap set in stone?+

Not at all. It is a dynamic blueprint. As you complete courses or change your target role, Sage recalibrates your five year timeline to reflect your new trajectory.

What happens if a professional does not respond to my coffee chat request?+

If a request is not accepted within a certain timeframe, it expires so you can reclaim your outreach credits and focus on other high-potential matches.

For Mentors

Why should I become a mentor?+

Mentoring students takes only thirty minutes per chat but can make a lasting impact. You help emerging talent, gain recognition, and earn reward points redeemable for gift cards or donations.

How are mentors rewarded?+

Each completed coffee chat earns you ten points. Every one hundred points can be redeemed for a ten dollar Amazon gift card or donated to charity.

How do I schedule and manage chats?+

Your dashboard shows all requests. You can accept, decline, or reschedule in one click, and CoffeeConnex handles the scheduling logistics automatically.

How much time do I have to commit?+

You have total control. You can set a weekly chat cap, for example one session per week, and block out specific weeks whenever your schedule gets busy.

What exactly are these Reward Points and how do I use them?+

You earn points for every completed chat. These can be redeemed in our Rewards Hub for professional development certifications, industry events, or even personal perks as a thank you for your time.

Can I choose what topics students ask me about?+

Yes. On your profile, you can tag specific Advice Areas, such as M&A interviews or CPA prep, so Sage only routes students looking for your specific expertise.

Yes. CoffeeConnex offers partnership dashboards for institutions and student clubs to run official mentorship programs and track engagement.

Do you provide data or reporting for institutions?+

Partner dashboards include anonymized engagement data, number of chats completed, and satisfaction scores, which are ideal for career center metrics or funding reports.

Is CoffeeConnex free to use?+

Yes. There is a free plan for all students and mentors. Paid plans are optional and enhance the experience.

How do you protect user privacy?+

We verify all users and store data securely with encrypted authentication. Conversations are private between the student and mentor.

How do I check in for a coffee chat to earn points?+

Once your meeting is scheduled, you can Verify Completion within the Messages tab. Once both parties confirm, your points are instantly credited.
